The protected areas from Iquitos, such as the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Reserve and Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, are fantastic regions to find sloths, pink river dolphins, poison dart frogs, a diversity of monkeys and much more.
Further south in Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the famed Tambopata National Reserve, you can find a blend of eco-luxury and wildlife immersion. This region is famous for the most clay licks in the amazon, where macaws and other animals gather to feed from salt-rich and medicinal clay.
