Imagine waking to the sound of howler monkeys echoing across a hidden bay, then stepping off the deck of your yacht directly onto one of the most wildlife-rich coastlines on Earth.

A Corcovado National Park boat tour gives you access to a stretch of Costa Rica that most visitors never reach. From the remote Osa Peninsula, you will explore ancient rainforest, pristine coral reefs, and winding mangrove waterways teeming with life. And you can do all of this from the comfort of a boutique expedition yacht, sailing between destinations that no road can reach.

So let's get started with some of the best boat tours to Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica.

The Kontiki Wayra Cruise

5 & 8-Day Expedition Cruise — Osa Peninsula | Quepos, Costa Rica

The Kontiki Wayra is one of the most exclusive expedition vessels sailing Costa Rica's South Pacific coast. Accommodating just nine luxury staterooms, this intimate yacht offers an experience closer to a private floating retreat than a traditional cruise. Space is generous, the atmosphere is unhurried, and with so few guests aboard, every excursion feels personal.

Guests can choose from Porthole, Panoramic, and Veranda Luxury Staterooms, each designed with natural tones, elegant finishes, and comfortable king-size or twin bedding. Large windows and private outdoor access keep you connected to the wild coastline beyond, so even your quietest moments feel immersed in the landscape.

When you are not out exploring, the Kontiki Wayra offers a spa and wellness retreat, fitness area, and an organic bar where you can settle in with a cocktail as the Osa Peninsula's jungle-clad hills drift slowly past. In the dining room, gourmet meals are crafted from local and organic ingredients. Enjoy food that reflects the richness of the region you are sailing through.

Each day, expert naturalist guides lead you ashore into some of Costa Rica's most extraordinary environments. Kayak through the quiet mangroves of Los Mogos, where herons wade in the shallows and river otters slip silently between the roots. Snorkel the protected waters around Isla del Caño, a marine reserve known for its exceptional visibility, reef sharks, sea turtles, and enormous schools of tropical fish. Navigate the exhilarating rapids of the Savegre River. And step ashore into Corcovado National Park itself. This a place National Geographic has called the most biologically intense on Earth.

Inside the park, your guides will lead you through old-growth forest trails where spider monkeys swing overhead, Baird's tapirs leave tracks in riverside mud, and the air hums with insects and birdsong. All four of Costa Rica's monkey species live here. So do pumas, jaguars, giant anteaters, and hundreds of bird species, including the scarlet macaw, which has become the symbol of this extraordinary coast.

The 8-day voyage extends your time on the water and allows for deeper exploration of the Osa Peninsula's most remote corners. Whether you choose 5 or 8 days, this is a cruise that rewards the adventurous and the wildlife-passionate in equal measure.

Snorkel in clear, sheltered bays above healthy coral. Listen to toucans and macaws calling from the treeline as you drift past in a kayak.

Water activities available throughout the voyage include kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, sea scooters, jet skis, and swimming directly from the yacht in warm, calm bays. Why a Boat Tour is the Best Way to See Corcovado

Corcovado National Park is not easy to reach by land. The park's remote location on the Osa Peninsula, one of the most isolated corners of Costa Rica, means that most overland routes are long, unpaved, and logistically complicated. A boat tour removes all of that difficulty and replaces it with something far more rewarding: the experience of arriving by sea, slipping into hidden coves and river mouths that no road can reach.

From the water, you have the best possible vantage point for wildlife that congregates along the coast. Watch pods of bottlenose and spinner dolphins riding the bow wake of your yacht. Look for humpback whales offshore during migration season. Keep your eyes on the shoreline, where crocodiles bask on sandy banks, roseate spoonbills wade in estuary shallows, and scarlet macaws travel in brilliant pairs between their forest roosts and the sea.

Ashore in Corcovado, the forest opens up in a way that few places on Earth can match. This is old-growth tropical rainforest, ancient, vast, and layered with life. The trees here have stood for centuries, and the animals that live among them have had generations to become accustomed to quiet, respectful visitors. White-faced capuchins watch with curiosity from low branches. Howler monkeys announce the dawn from the canopy. And in the leaf litter below the trail, poison dart frogs pulse with colour alongside giant beetles of extraordinary size.

For the patient and the lucky, Corcovado also offers something rarer. Baird's tapirs, the largest land mammal in Central America, are spotted here with a regularity that surprises first-time visitors. Pumas patrol the beach at dusk. And camera traps throughout the park continue to confirm what wildlife ecologists have long known: that jaguars still move through this forest, making the Osa Peninsula one of the last places in Central America where the great cats survive in the wild.

Both the Kontiki Wayra and Galaxy Zibó itineraries are carefully designed to give you the best access to all of this. Their routes connect the park's most wildlife-rich entry points with the outstanding marine environments that surround it, creating a voyage that is as varied as it is unforgettable.

Planning Your Corcovado Boat Tour

Both cruises depart from Quepos, a small coastal town in southern Costa Rica with easy connections to San José's international airport. A domestic flight from San José to Quepos takes under thirty minutes, or you can make the scenic three-and-a-half-hour drive along the Pacific coast.

On arrival, you will already feel that this part of Costa Rica is something different. The light on the water is long and golden. Scarlet macaws call noisily from the trees above the marina. And to the south, the dark outline of the Osa Peninsula rises from the sea. This area of Costa Rica is full of things to be discovered.

Your guide and crew will meet you at the dock and escort you aboard. From that moment, your Corcovado adventure begins.

To check availability for your travel dates, send a request to the cruises using the buttons below. We recommend booking at least three to six months in advance, particularly for the Kontiki Wayra, where the limited staterooms are in high demand between December and April.

Both cruises have been selected based on their exceptional wildlife access, quality of naturalist guiding, responsible environmental practices, and outstanding feedback from previous guests.
