The Posada Amazonas Lodge Tour
At the Posada Amazonas Lodge, enjoy a comfortable experience of Peru’s Amazon Rainforest from Puerto Maldonado.
Because of the position inside the Ese’Eja’s community reserve, the lodge is a good choice for a 3 or 4-day Amazon tour.
To begin your experience, you will be met at Puerto Maldonado airport and you will be escorted to the reserve. This begins with a 1-hour road trip followed by a tranquil 1-hour boat ride up the Tambopata River. Even on this journey you will experience the sounds and sights of Amazonia.
On your Posada Amazonas Amazon tour, explore the rainforest led by members of the native Ese’Eja community. With your local guide, you will explore the diverse forest to find Amazon wildlife and enjoy cultural activities.
Highlights of your tour include:
- The nearby parrot clay lick
- Guided lake tours
- The canopy tower
Enjoy guided rainforest trails to find different monkeys and birds. The Posada Amazonas also offers one of the highest chances of seeing giant river otters.
The lodge itself is composed of five wings of six rooms. And there are different accommodation options to choose from. These range from the Comfort Suites to the premium Suites. The rooms are connected by a raised boardwalk. And this means the rainforest is left as untouched as possible. For example, the animals can still wander unobstructed through the forest. All of the bathrooms at the Posada Amazonas are private and have hot flowing water.
There is also a small wellness center. This is where you can enjoy a massage or aromatherapy treatment to relax with the sounds of the rainforest.

Operated By Rainforest Expeditions
About Rainforest Expeditions
In 1989, Eduardo Nycander, a wildlife photographer and architect passionate about nature and conservation, was invited by the Wildlife Conservation Society to photograph macaws in a stunning and wildlife-rich region of Tambopata, Peru.
Overwhelmed by the wildlife and beauty of the region, Eduardo constructed a research center for studying the wildlife, including a 10,000-hectare forest concession protecting the area.
Later joined by a former researcher of the macaw project, Kurt Holle, Rainforest Expeditions was officially founded in 1992 as a tourism company. This allowed everyone, not just researchers, to experience and appreciate this incredible and wildlife-rich region.
Now operating 3 distinct lodges, Rainforest Expeditions have become one of the leading, and most awarded, tourism companies in the Peruvian Amazon. They are regularly honored at the World Travel Awards, consistently receive high praise from guests, and have been featured in National Geographic, Condé Nast Traveler and Conservation International.
