The Luxury Peruvian Andes - 6 Days Itinerary

Your day begins with a 7:00 AM private pickup from your hotel in Cusco, setting off on a journey that blends wildlife conservation, local traditions, and ancient history.

The first stop is Manos de la Comunidad, a dedicated animal rescue center working to rehabilitate and protect Andean wildlife. Here, you’ll get up close with llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and Andean condors, learning about their rescue stories and the center’s mission to give them a second chance at life.

Next, the journey leads to the community of Caccaccollo, where you’ll experience authentic Andean culture firsthand. Engaging with local villagers, you’ll discover their centuries-old weaving techniques, hear the melodic sounds of Quechua, and taste traditional Andean snacks made with locally grown ingredients. This immersive experience offers a rare glimpse into a way of life deeply rooted in the past.

From Caccaccollo, the tour continues to the archaeological site of Pisaq, one of the most important ruins of the Inca Empire. Perched high above the Sacred Valley, Pisaq reveals stunning terraces, ceremonial sites, and breathtaking views that tell the story of Inca engineering and spirituality.

No visit to the Sacred Valley is complete without indulging in its flavors. A gourmet à la carte lunch awaits at one of the region’s most scenic restaurants, where the freshest local ingredients come together in a feast for the senses.

The Sacred Valley, once the heart of the Inca Empire, remains a place of wonder—where fertile plains, towering peaks, and ancient ruins tell the story of a civilization that thrived in harmony with nature.

Your day begins with a 9:00 AM private pickup from your hotel in the Sacred Valley, setting off toward the charming town of Ollantaytambo. Here, you’ll explore its archaeological site and cobblestone streets, stepping into a living history that reveals the power, complexity, and spiritual beliefs of the Inca Empire.

The journey continues to the plains of Moray, a mysterious site of concentric terraces believed to have been an Inca agricultural laboratory. Amidst this breathtaking landscape, an Andean priest will guide you through a Pachamama ceremony, an ancient ritual honoring Mother Earth. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and sweeping valleys, this cultural experience offers a rare connection to the spiritual traditions of the Andes.

Lunch today is a picnic in nature, where you’ll savor a meal crafted from the freshest local ingredients, all while enjoying panoramic views of the valley.

The Imperial City of the Incas is a treasure of the Peruvian Andes, where Inca ruins, colonial architecture, and cobblestone streets blend seamlessly to tell a story of conquest and resilience.

Your day begins with a 9:00 AM private pickup from your hotel, leading to Plaza de Armas, the vibrant heart of Cusco. Here, you’ll step inside the Cusco Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where grand gold-leafed altars and an extensive collection of colonial art reflect centuries of history.

From the main square, a walk along an ancient Inca-built street brings you to the Q’oricancha—Temple of the Sun, once the spiritual epicenter of the Inca Empire. This sacred site reveals the stark contrast between the Inca’s precision stonework and Spanish colonial construction, offering a fascinating glimpse into the architectural evolution of Cusco. The temple’s bronze high altar and sacred chambers still hold the echoes of a once-mighty civilization.

Next, a private van takes you beyond the city to the towering ruins of Sacsayhuamán, a majestic Inca fortress known for its mammoth 200-ton stone walls and unparalleled panoramic views of Cusco. Standing here, surrounded by history and breathtaking landscapes, you’ll understand why the Incas chose this site as a strategic and spiritual stronghold.

Your adventure begins before dawn with a 4:00 AM private pickup from your Cusco accommodation. From here, settle into our private van for a 3.5-hour scenic drive through traditional Andean villages, watching the first light of day illuminate the rolling landscapes. At the trailhead in Chillca (3,700m / 12,140ft), a hearty breakfast awaits, prepared fresh by our trekking chef—a perfect fuel for the journey ahead.

The hike to Rainbow Mountain takes approximately four hours, following a gradual ascent through a breathtaking Andean panorama. Along the way, you’ll pass glacial peaks, deep-red mountains, and rugged valleys, where herds of llamas and alpacas graze in their natural habitat. This is also one of the few places where you might spot wild vicuñas, the elegant Andean camelid prized for its luxurious wool—the most expensive in the world.

At the summit of Rainbow Mountain, the reward is beyond words. You’ll stand above the clouds, gazing at the mesmerizing striations of red, gold, and turquoise that stretch across the landscape. In the distance, the towering Ausangate Glacier Peak (nearly 21,000 feet) dominates the skyline, a sacred mountain of the Vilcanota Range. While you take in this incredible view, enjoy a warm drink, as your guide shares insights into the mineral-rich formations that give the mountain its iconic rainbow hues. If luck is on your side, you might even see Andean condors soaring gracefully overhead.

After capturing the moment with unforgettable photos, the descent back to the trailhead begins—a two-hour downhill trek that allows for one last appreciation of this stunning landscape. At the base, our trekking chef will be waiting with a freshly prepared hot lunch, a well-earned reward after the morning’s adventure.

From here, we return to Chillca Village, where your private van will be ready to take you back to Cusco. Arriving between 7:00 – 8:00 PM, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, bringing an end to an unforgettable day in the Peruvian Andes.
