The Rekero Camp offers a classic experience of Kenya’s incredible Maasai Mara. The camp itself is positioned deep in the Masai Mara National Reserve for year-round wildlife viewing. The camp offers a fantastic location to see the Great Migration where thousands of wildebeest and zebra cross the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Many can be seen crossing the river near the camp.

Rekero is a traditional safari camp with carefully designed tents perched above the Talek River. Enjoy incredible views of the Maasai Mara with one of the highest levels of wildlife in Africa.

From the camp, you will head out on game drives with very knowledgeable and experienced guides to explore this incredible region.

Accommodation

The Rekero Camp is made of 9 spacious tents, including 2 family tents. Each of these offers ensuite bathrooms and hot-water showes with flushing toilets. There is also a complementary laundry service. Power is provided by both a generator and solar, which provides battery charging.

Underneath a row of trees, the 9 individual camps are spaced out along the river. Each offers a private veranda, so you can enjoy views of the Maasai Mara directly from your accommodation. There is also a daybed to relax watching the river.

The camp is in a prime position for viewing the Great Migration and is near both the Talek and Mara rivers in the south of the Maasai Mara. This is the most game-rich area in the Reserve, which means it ranks as one of the most wildlife-rich areas in all of Africa.

Tour

Even outside of migration season, you can enjoy impressive levels of wildlife. The plains are filled with herds of elephants, buffalo and their iconic predators.

Rekero Camp is well positioned to explore all the Maasai Mara has to offer. The focus of your experience is on game viewing with world renowned safari guides.

Enjoy game drives for wildlife viewing with twice-daily excursions with Il Dorobo and Maasai guides. You will head out in closed game-viewing vehicles with rooftop hatches that allow you to stand. Vehicles are equipped with powerpoints so you can charge batteries.

You will also enjoy other activities, such as bush picnics and cultural and community visits to learn about the traditional Maasai way of life.

Balloon safaris are also offered (at an additional cost) to fly over the Maasai Mara. See the plains and wildlife below from a new perspective to fully appreciate this incredible region.

Note that migration viewing is from July/August to November

Families with children aged five and older are warmly welcomed at Rekero Camp.
