This is the classic primate safari tour in Uganda. Over 10 days, you will visit the Kibale Forest National Park to see lots of different primates and the beautiful Crater Lakes. Here you can also take part in a full day chimp habituation experience. After this, enter the nearby Queen Elizabeth National Park for game viewing. You will then have an optional second chimp tracking in Kyambura Gorge. Day 1- Arrival Entebbe International Airport
After you arrive in Entebbe International Airport,you will be met by your host and transferred to your accommodation.

Day 2 - Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park
After your delicious breakfast, head off with your driver/guide to Fort Portal in Western Uganda. This is the main base for the highly diverse Kibale Forest National Park. Kibale includes 70 different mammals and 13 different primates. The drive will take around 5 to 7 hours and we will arrive in Fort Portal for lunch. To help stretch after the journey, we will head off on a walk to the “top of the world.” This is an area with exceptional views over the crater lakes famous in the region. Along with the forest and chimpanzees, the lakes are the major attraction in this area of Uganda.

Day 3 - Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Today at 06.00am, you will head to the Kanyanchu visitors center to meet with the chimpanzee habituation team and begin what is known as the Chimp Chex activity. This is where we familiarize the chimps with visitors in the Kibale Forest National Park. You can do the activity from dawn to dusk. But as the activity can be quite challenging, you can call time whenever you want. There will be long pauses where you can relax and observe the chimps in close proximity.

Day 4 – Bigodi Swamp Walk and to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Today, you will first enjoy your breakfast before being transported to the Bigodi Wetlands. The Bigodi Sanctuary is a great place enjoy seeing different primates and many birds. Enjoy a swamp walk to spot the wildlife with a packed lunch. After this, you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is the most popular park in Uganda. The area is home to 600 different birds, 10 species of primates, and the classic big game animals. You will now have a game drive and drive slowly southwards.

Day 5 - Queen Elizabeth National Park
Today, you will spend the whole day exploring the national park. Start with a morning game safari, enjoy a boat tour on the Kazinga Channel and then drive to the renowned the drive southwards to the Ishasha sector of the park. This section is well known for the tree-climbing lions.

Day 6 - To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
We will now begin the next half of your tour as you are taken further south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is one of the oldest and most diverse forests in Uganda. This is where you will be tracking the magnificent mountain gorillas. The forest is home to around 320 gorillas, 400 species of plants, 120 species of mammals and over 350 species of birds.

You will arrive at Buhoma in the north of the park and meet your Nkuringo walking safari guide. Now you will walk around 7 hours through the forest to Nkuringo, which is on the southern side. Your driver will drive around too the lodge and meet you there, so we recommend taking a day pack as you will more than likely arrive before him. A packed lunch will be provided.

Day 7 – Gorilla tracking
This morning you will attend a briefing at 8 am to learn about gorilla etiquette. After this, it’s time to hike in the forest until we find the gorilla group. When you find them, you can stay and observe the gorillas for a total of one hour. After this, you can enjoy relaxing at the lodge or relax on a walk to explore the village. You can also walk up to the football field to see an incredible view of the surroundings. You will carry a packed lunch today.

Day 8 - Walking and canoe excursion Lake Mutanda – transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Today we will have a more relaxing day exploring the area of Nkuringo. Spend the whole day walking and canoeing. Today is more relaxing after yesterday’s more strenuous hike. Enjoy walking passed villages, farms, and churches at your own pace.

You will later read the beautiful Lake Mutanda where you will enjoy a packed lunch. Enjoy this before getting in dugout canoes (life vests are provided and you do not need to paddle) that will take you to the other side. Sit back, relax, stick a foot into the water and enjoy. Meet up with your vehicle to transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest Crater Lake, enjoy your dinner on the terrace.

Day 9 – Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park
After enjoying breakfast, you will begin traveling to Lake Mburo National Park via Kabale and Mbarara town. Stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch. At the Lake Mburo National Park, you will be accommodated in the Mihingo Lodge. The road journey will be around 6 to 7 hours.

The Mihingo Lodge overlooks the Lake Opeta and is positioned in some rock outcrops at the park boundary. Each of the accommodation is private and well positioned. The lodge has a beautiful infinity pool where the dining room overlooks a man-made waterhole. Different animals are attracted to the water. You can spot smaller species and sometimes see antelopes.

Activities: A boat trip on Lake Mburo in the afternoon. After this, enjoy game drive en-route to the Lodge.

DAY 10: Lake Mburo – Entebbe
Return to Entebbe after a late breakfast. Anticipated driving time is about 6 hours on the road. En route you will pass the equator where a coffee break can be taken and possibly the picnic lunch provided by the lodge,

Day room-use at Papyrus Guest, to later transfer for evening flight back home.

Gorilla Permits cannot be guaranteed until we receive a full deposit of US$600 per permit for the months January, February, March, June, July, August, September, October, December, Low season rate USD450 April, May and November (separate from the main tour deposit) and actually pay for the permits at the Wildlife Authority Offices
