Wildlife of the Bwindi National Park
Offering one of the most biodiverse areas in East Africa, the main attraction of the park are the Mountain Gorillas but these are by no means the only wildlife to find.
Other animals living in the area include a high diversity of birds, black and white colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, elephants, bushbucks, buffallo, civet cats, bushpigs, giant forest hogs, black-fronted duikers, yellow backed duikers, clawless otters, genets and many species of bats and rodents.
The area is very popular for birders and provides the best birding location in East Africa. You can enjoy finding many different and interesting species, including black billed turacos, yellow eyed black flycatchers, black bee-eaters, kivus ground thrushes, Grauer´s warbler, bar-tailed trogons and many more. The Ruhija area of Bwindi is also home to the very rare green broadbill.
