On the 5-Day Gorilla Trekking Tour from Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge, enjoy visiting two groups of gorillas. These groups live in the incredible Bwindi Impenetrable Forest of southern Uganda. The forest is surrounded by fantastic scenery of different mountains and rolling hills. Over your adventure, you will get up close to these majestic endangered animals. The gorilla groups we will visit are in the south-western section of the park.

The climax of the tour is when we encounter the silverback, the leader of his group. The tour includes your air transfers from Entebbe to the Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge. From this comfortable and highly rated lodge, enjoy beautiful views of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge
The Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge overlooks the world famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest from the Nteko Ridge. The lodge provides a great place to enjoy local culture and to see diverse wildlife. From the lodge, not only is it a great place to see the two groups of mountain gorillas, there are also many different birds to see. Staying at this comfortable lodge, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Virunga Volcanoes and into the Albertine Rift Valley.


Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival Entebbe International Airport
You will arrive at Entebbe International Airport and will be collected by Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge staff and transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe (Papyrus Guest House).

Meal Plan: Bed and Breakfast

Day 2: Fly from Entebbe – Kisoro
Today, you will transfer from your accommodation in Entebbe to the Entebbe International Airport for Aerolink flight to Kisoro. You will travel over central Uganda. Enjoy a beautiful landscape of mountains, cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest. You will then spot the majestic chain of the Virunga Volcanoes. Forest here once joined with the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You will be picked up from Kisoro Airstrip to visit our coffee Shop in Kisoro for a cup of Ugandan coffee. After this, you will be met by your tour guide and walk for 90 minutes (4 km to Lake Mutanda Sheba’s camp) to embark in dugout canoes for 2 1/2 hours on the lake with your guide. Continue the walk up to Rubuguri (9km). At Rubuguri junction, you will be met by a vehicle to continue to Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge (10km).

Day 3: Gorilla tracking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest south sector – Nkuringo
From the lodge, it’s only 300 meters into the forest for the visitor reception to see the Nkuringo gorilla group. These are located in the southern portion of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will have a briefing on the dos and don’t when observing the gorillas. After this at 8 am, we will begin to track these magnificent animals.

When we have found the gorilla group, we can only spend one hour with them at a time. We cannot determine how long we will be in the forest as the gorillas move around all the time. On your return to your vehicle you will proceed directly to Nkuringo Gorilla Camp.

DAY 4: Second Gorilla tracking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest south sector – One of Rushaga Gorilla groups
Today we visit the gorillas in the Rushaga section of the park. Like yesterday, you will first receive a briefing and start tracking the gorillas at 8 am. When the gorillas group has been found, you can stay with them for an hour before returning to the Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge. Hot showers and a bowl of potato soup will be waiting for you.

Day 5: Fly from Kisoro – Entebbe
After a delicious breakfast, you will begin your journey back to Entebbe. You will be first transferred to Kisoro Airstrip and will take your Aerolink flight back to Entebbe International Airport. Enjoy day-room use of the guesthouse then be transferred to the airport for your evening departure flight.

Gorilla Permits cannot be guaranteed until we receive a full deposit of US$600 per permit for the months January, February, March, June, July, August, September, October, December, Low season rate USD450 April, May and November (separate from the main tour deposit) and actually pay for the permits at the Wildlife Authority Offices
