A fantastic destination to experience the tropical rainforest, there are a number of recommended rainforest tours to enjoy in Belize.

Here, we will mention some of our favorites, but first a little introduction to this remarkable country.

You can find Belize on the Caribbean side of Central America. Famous for its wildlife-rich rainforests, beautiful tropical reefs and beaches, Belize is definitely a top choice for nature lovers or a tropical getaway.

Here, we will focus on rainforest tours offered as package tours from rainforest lodges. Positioned in the rainforest, these offer the best experiences of Belize’s incredible wildlife.

Many of the rainforest lodges are found near the beach and offer a variety of relaxing or adventurous activities, including horse riding, snorkeling, visiting Mayan ruins, diving experiences and, of course, guided experiences to explore the rainforest.

See incredible animals and plants, such as different monkeys, colorful birds and fascinating plants.

  1. The Lodge at Chaa Creek

    Chaa Creek Lodge

    The Lodge at Chaa Creek sits in a private 365-acre reserve of tropical rainforest. Enjoy comfortable accommodation with garden views and relax in the private jacuzzis and plunge pools after guided rainforest walks.

    While relaxing back at your accommodation, you will also enjoy some breathtaking views of the Maya Mountains.

    From the lodge dining room, you will enjoy delicious and fresh cuisine while listening to the sounds of birds in surrounding trees. Most ingredients are sourced on-site from the lodge’s organic farm.

    You can also enjoy a massage or relaxation treatment at the Hilltop Spa at Chaa Creek to fully relax in the rainforest. There is also an infinity pool and butterfly exhibit to enjoy.

  2. The Chan Chich Lodge

    Chan Chich Lodge

    Positioned in a private reserve of 30,000 acres, the Chan Chich Lodge sits among beautiful tropical rainforest. Inspired by traditional rainforest buildings, choose from a variety of accommodation options, which include the Luxury Cottages, Deluxe Cottages, Garden Cottages, and Pool Casitas.

    Enjoy meals prepared with fresh ingredients from the lodge’s on-site organic farm. You will then enjoy the beautiful rainforest and garden views from the indoor / outdoor dining area.

    You will then enjoy guided tours in surrounding rainforest to find many different animals and plants. There are fantastic trails along a 9-mile trail network. In addition to nature, explore the Mayan ruins in Belize for a perfect adventure.

    If you would like to see as many animals and plants as possible, you can head out with naturalist guides who will point out the fascinating things to see along the trails. To give a glimpse into the lives of ancient cultures, you can also enjoy a medicinal plant trail for plants used by the Maya to treat a range of conditions.

  3. The Black Rock Lodge

  4. The Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge

    Sleeping Giant Lodge

    The Sleeping GIant Rainforest Lodge offers a perfect destination to relax in the rainforest with its on-site spa, comfortable accommodation, and guided exploration of the wildlife and region.

    There are 30 comfortable rooms on offer and each is decorated with handcrafted furniture. Offering a balance of nature and comfort, choose from the two-bedroom River House, Mountain View Penthouse Suite, Mountain View Suites, Riverview Suites, and Riverview Rooms. Each accommodation option offers beautiful views, comfortable beds and some offer a refreshing private plunge pool.

    Your meals at the lodge are served in Grove House, which is perched high in the trees to offer fantastic views of surrounding rainforest. The lodge offers farm-to-table cuisine with dishes freshly prepared by highly trained Belizean chefs.

    Activities at the lodge include bird-watching, river-tubing, hiking and abseiling. You can also relax with a massage at the in-house spa.

  5. The Mystic River Resort

    Mystic River Resort

    The Mystic River Resort is positioned in the Belizean rainforest and offers comfortable accommodation in the rainforest. While relaxing at the lodge, you will hear the sounds of tropical birds and the Macal River below. You will then enjoy guided tours of the region’s wildlife and scenery.

    There are different suites available at the resort. The one-bedroom suites offer both rainforest and river views. The two-bedroom suites then offer beautiful river views. If you would like to prioritise comfort, the Mystic River Resort also offers the Cloud9 Suites with private plunge pools and private outdoor showers.

    The dining room where you will enjoy your meals offers nice views of the rainforest and river. Enjoy farm-to-table cuisine of local Belizean dishes. You can then relax in the bar enjoying the view ready for your adventures the next day.

    From the lodge, you can also watch wildlife at the river’s edge. Enjoy watching the river and also spotting different reptiles and tropical birds, such as parrots and toucans.

    The guided hikes through the rainforest are a most loved activity at the lodge. Head out to find many different animals and plants. The lodge is also nearby fantastic Mayan archaeological sites, which you can visit on your stay with a guided tour.

    Accommodation options at the Table Rock Lodge include the Garden View Rooms with views of the tropical flower garden, the spacious Jungle View Cabañas offering rainforest views, and the River Valley View Cabanas with views of the Macal River Valley.

    The Rainforest Cabin provides a little more space. Enjoy 2-bedrooms and a private veranda for your group. For even more space, you can choose the 3-bedroom two-story home. This large home offers solar power with beautiful views of the Macal River.

    You can then enjoy farm-to-table cuisine in the lodge’s dining room. Meals are served in an open-air setting, so you can stay connected with views and sounds of the tropical rainforest.

    As the main part of your experience, enjoy guided tours in the rainforest on a choice of package tours. Choose tours suited to adventure, relaxation, the Maya, or nature.     Located by the Macal River, the Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge sits amid tropical wildlife-rich rainforest.

    Explore the surrounding wildlife-rich rainforest to find a diversity of animals and plants, including different monkeys and colorful birds.

    The lodge offers 21 rooms in total, which include both private and family accommodation options. The entire lodge is surrounded by beautiful tropical vegetation. Enjoy 37 acres of walking trails through the rainforest and the lodge’s own botanic garden. In the lodge dining room, you will then enjoy meals of delicious Belizean and Caribbean dishes.

    Choose from different package options to make the experience more fluid. These include accommodation, transfers, guided tours and all meals at the lodge.   9. The Copal Tree Lodge

    The Copal Tree Lodge sits among tropical rainforest near a 12,000 acre nature reserve. Enjoy comfortable accommodation, guided tours to find animals and plants, the sounds of different birds and the nearby Rio Grande River.

    There are different accommodation options to choose from at the Copal Tree Lodge. The choices include the four Signature Canopy Suites. These offer beautiful views of the Maya Mountains and easy access to the infinity pool. There are also the King Jungle Suites with one king bed and shower room with beautiful jungle views, Queen Jungle Suites and a Family Villa.

    In addition to your suite, the lodge offers different relaxation reas. A favorite area is the Copal Tree Rum Bar and central lounge, which offers complementary Wi-Fi, games and books.

    Enjoy different activities from the lodge, such as a guided walk to find rainforest wildlife, kayaking, mountain biking and horse riding. On guided trail walks, be on the lookout for different monkeys, parrots, and delicate tree frogs.

    Your meals at the Copal Tree Lodge will be served fresh and inspired by Mayan, East Indian, Creole, Garifuna, Latin and Indo-Caribbean cultures. Ingredients are sourced locally and many of the vegetables are grown at the lodge’s own farm.

  10. The Cotton Tree Lodge

    The Cotton Tree Lodge

    The Cotton Tree Lodge is found in southern Belize in the middle of Central American rainforest. Positioned by the Moho River, the lodge sits right at the foot of the Maya Mountains. This creates a spectacular region filled with wildlife and beautiful scenery.

    Sitting on its own area of 100 acres, you can enjoy guided exploration in surrounding rainforest to find different animals and plants, including the famous macaw parrots, monkeys, toucans and tropical flowers.

    In addition to a nature experience, you can enjoy different cultural and archaeological tours from the lodge. These include a visit with a Mayan cacao farmer and visiting ancient Mayan ruins. There are also different adventure options, such as caving, kayaking, and swimming. You can also enjoy relaxing at the lodge in the hammocks or choose a relaxation treatment at the lodge spa.

    There are different accommodation options to choose from. These include the Standard Cabanas, Garden Vista Room with beautiful garden views, the two-story Family Cabana, and the spacious Deluxe Cabana with private balconies and hammocks.

    Meals are then served in the lodge restaurant and most of the ingredients are sourced from the lodge’s own gardens. The bar then provides a fantastic place to relax with a drink listening to the sounds of the jungle.
