Tour

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe International Airport.
You will be collected from the Entebbe International Airport and transferred to Papyrus Guesthouse (Bed and Breakfast) in Entebbe.

Day 2: Entebbe International Airport -– Kibale Forest National Park
Enjoy an early morning breakfast then a transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight to Kasese Airstrip. After arrival, you will meet with the vehicle and driver to take you to the Kibale Forest National Park.

This the base for entrance into Kibale Forest National Park. The park offers one of the most diverse tropical forests in Uganda. There are 13 different primates to see and 70 mammal species in total.

For the Kibale Forest part of the trip, you will stay at the Crater Safari Lodge on Lake Nyinabulitwa. This is one of the many Crater Lakes in the Fort Portal region.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Today we will head to the Kanyanchu visitors centre at 06.00am to meet with the Chimpanzee Habituation team. Here you will do what’s known as the Chimp Chex activity. This is a unique opportunity for you to help habituate a group of chimps within the Kibale Forest National Park.

How long you spend with them is up to you. You can enjoy their company from dawn to dusk, but you can call 'time' as it can be physically challenging. There are long pauses for your relax and observe the chimps in close proximity. They also like to relax at midday.

Day 4 : Kibale - Kasese – Kisoro - Nkuringo
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Kasese Airstrip for your transfer flight to Kisoro. Your guide will collect you from Kisoro Airstrip and will drive you to the Nkuringo sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Bwindi is home to more than 320 mountain gorillas, 400 species of plants, 120 species of mammals and over 350 species of birds.You will continue walking to the lodge and will chek in. After enjoying lunch at the lodge, a ranger guide will escort you on a nature walk.

Day 5: Gorilla tracking - tracking the Nkuringo Gorilla Family
You will first have a briefing on correct behavior with the gorillas. It takes a few minutes to learn gorilla etiquette. After this, in your comfortable shoes and clothes, and with your packed lunch, begin to track the gorillas. Walking sticks are also advised as the terrain can be challenging.

Walk and hike the slippery terrain until we make contact with the gorilla family wherever they are in the forest. You can spend an hour with the gorillas observing their similarities with us and their gentle nature. Although on the edge of extinction, just by visiting these fantastic animals you are helping their survival.

Depending on how long you’re in the forest, you can either relax in the afternoon at the lodge or enjoy another walk around the village. You can also hike up to a high football field with a breathtaking view.

Day 6: Second Gorilla tracking – Rushaga
Today, you will have an early morning breakfast and at around 6:45am. You will then set off to Rushaga some 23km from the lodge. This early morning departure is to allow some time for photographic opportunities as you descend down the valley from Nkuringo.

You will be driven to Rushaga in the early morning when the sun illuminates the volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains. All the Rushaga groups have the same briefing point at Rushaga then visitors dispatch to track their respective Gorilla groups. After tracking, you will return to the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer Kisoro – Scheduled Flight Entebbe
Early morning breakfast and transfer to Kisoro Airstrip for flight to Entebbe, estimated arrival time 11:30 am – connect to KQ flight to Zanzibar.

Booking conditions of Uganda Gorilla Safari

Gorilla Permits cannot be guaranteed until we receive a full deposit of US$600 per permit for the months January, February, March, June, July, August, September, October, December, Low season rate USD450 April, May and November (separate from the main tour deposit) and actually pay for the permits at the Wildlife Authority Offices
