Africa

Africa

Attracting explorers and adventurers for centuries, Africa remains mysterious with incredible wildlife spectacles like the great migration, some of the world’s most untouched tropical forests, a diverse culture, and fascinating flora and fauna. Africa was the cradle of mankind and the diverse and imposing wildlife we grew up with fills this continent of contrasts.

Tour Destinations

The forested areas of Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda hide some of the most magical of all the African wildlife sightings, the forest Gorillas and Chimpanzees. Our cousins have been living in these forests for thousands of years. These can be seen on tours led from eco tourism lodges that take guided expeditions to see the fantastic and majestic animals.

Heading down the continent, South Africa remains a fantastic tourist destination with protected areas like the famous Kruger National Park, Sabona Reserve and Shamwari Reserve. The reserves contains excellent lodges and safari experiences where you can see all of Africa’s Big 5 while enjoying comfortable or luxurious accommodation and walking safaris influenced by early African explorers.

Wildlife & Protected Areas

Africa’s protected areas contain the world’s most diverse mega fauna where you can enjoy seeing Giraffes, Elephants, Lions, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Rhinos, Hippos, Chimpanzees and Gorillas.

Accommodation

Accommodation at the Nkuringo Gorilla Camp is made up of four beautifully made ensuite cottages which can accommodate up to 5 people.

Dining

The lodge restaurant offers freshly prepared food made from locally sourced ingredients. Dinners at the Nkuringo Gorilla Camp are a four course meal, and visitors often mention how they especially love the homemade breads and fresh soups.

We provide low voltage electric lighting and paraffin lanterns of a night. We have an electrical generator as our power source for the provision of charging batteries for cameras and phones. The unit is run in the evenings for an hour or so. We do however recommend visitors come with an additional camera battery.

Responsibility

The most prominent community outreach program of the Nkuringo Gorilla Camp is our involvement with with the Nkuringo Youth initiative to teach about sustainable development through improving local skills.

Nkuringo Gorrila Camp also has a carbon neutral footprint from working with the Uganda Carbon Bureau by carbon offsetting. We have also begun our reforestation project by planting native trees in the area to support our eco system and to promote the importance of conservation and reforestation in the communities. Visitors can adopt a tree for US $20 and we will keep you posted about your adoptive tree
